The GhIE President Ing. Albert Ayeh Ogyiri has recommended to the Ministry of Water Resources, Works and Housing to accelerate the formulation of a rainwater harvesting strategy to encourage the use of rain water as a viable option to supplement household and institutional water requirements
Delivering the 42nd presidential address in Accra on the 13th of October, 2011, the President of the Ghana Institution of Engineers (GhIE), Ing. Albert Ayeh Ogyiri, stated rainwater in Ghana was less institutionally accepted even though in the colonial era many missionary and government residences had rainwater harvesting incorporated in their designs.
The fourth (4th) World Engineers' Convention was held in Geneva, Switzerland from September 4 to 9, 2011 at Geneva International Conference Centre. More than 1,800 engineers, researchers, representatives of business, government and education attended the conference.
The GhIE was represented by, the President, Ing. Albert A. Ogyiri, the Executive Secretary Ing. Joseph K. Buckson and Ing. Magnus L. Quarshie who presented a paper during the Conference. The Theme for the Convention was “Engineers Power the World – Facing the Global Energy Challenge”. The Open Ceremony was held on Monday September 5, 2011 at the Geneva International Conference Centre, from 0900Hrs to 1100Hrs.
